This Fall, the Economics Department and the Center for Applied Economics and Policy Research at Indiana University will host the 27th Annual Empirical Investigations in International Trade conference. At this conference, economists specializing in empirical international trade will present their current research. The goal of this conference is to promote the awareness of ongoing research in the area. It is also our hope that by bringing together people of similar interests, increased communication of ideas and future directions for the general research area will be promoted.

Previous editions of the conference have included researchers at many different stages in their careers. The atmosphere is informal and lively, characterized by significant audience participation. We do not intend to publish the papers.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's edition will take place virtually on Gather on three consecutive Fridays, October 16, 23, and 30, to minimize interference with various teaching obligations and to minimize Zoom exhaustion. Gather is a new platform for hosting virtual conferences. Presentations will be conducted in Zoom which can be accessed directly from Gather. During breaks participants can interact in the conference space on Gather which allows for small group conversations. Rather than having to navigate large group conversations in Zoom, it is possible to have multiple concurrent small group conversations in Gather. Feel free to explore one such space here. You can read about Gather and read a basic guide here.
